Privacy Policy

The short version. FOUR stores your photos and strips on your device. We do not run a server that holds your pictures, we do not have a public feed, and we do not use face recognition. Nothing you take leaves your phone unless you share it yourself.
What FOUR stores, and where
Everything the app creates is written to storage on your own device:
- Photos and strips — the shots you keep and the finished strips, held in the app's local database.
- Who a strip is with — the names and optional usernames you type for the people you tag. You supply these; we do not read your contacts.
- Traditions and settings — the reminders you create and your app preferences.
- Location — only if you explicitly add a place to a strip. FOUR never tracks your location in the background.
Deleting the app removes all of it. You can also erase everything from inside the app at Profile → Settings → Delete everything.
What we do not do
- No face recognition, face grouping, or biometric identification of any kind.
- No public profiles, feeds, followers, or comments.
- No selling or sharing of personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
- No reading of your camera roll beyond the specific photos you choose in the picker.
- No background location.
Permissions we ask for, and why
- Camera — to take your strip. Requested the first time you press the shutter, not at launch.
- Photos — only when you save a finished strip or import photos to build one.
- Notifications — optional, and only asked for after something is actually worth notifying you about.
You can change any of these at any time in iOS Settings. Declining the photo permission does not stop you taking or keeping strips.
Retouching and image processing
Looks, retouching, and strip composition all run on your device. Your photos are not uploaded anywhere to be processed.
Sharing
When you share a strip, you hand a finished image to whichever app you pick — Messages, Instagram, and so on. From that point their privacy policy applies, not ours. Exported images have their camera metadata stripped, and location is never embedded unless you added it yourself.
Accounts
An account is optional. You can use FOUR without one. If you create one, we store the display name, username, and sign-in identifier you provide, so your strips can follow you to a new device. We do not post anything on your behalf.
Children
FOUR is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Analytics
We record anonymous, aggregate product events — that a strip was created, that a share sheet was opened — to understand which parts of the app people use. These events contain no photos, no names, and nothing that identifies you.
Your rights
Because your data is on your device, you already have direct access to all of it: you can view, export, and delete anything at any time from inside the app. If you hold an account and want it removed, email us and we will delete it and anything attached to it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will update the date above and note the change in the app. Continuing to use FOUR after a change means you accept the updated policy.
